Television Host
Whether she’s conducting a live satellite interview with Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs or a woman with breast cancer … whether she’s on location helping to install a kitchen sink, receiving an energy healing treatment, or assisting in the preparation of a delicious dish, Portland brings genuine curiosity to every subject, a willingness to get her hands dirty, sensitivity to her guests, and the ability not only to ask good questions but to listen closely to answers.
She’s hosted a variety of programs: health, magazine travel, live talk shows, home improvement, infomercials, job recruitment, and business. She’s the creator and host of the national talk show, What’s the Alternative?, on the former Veria Living TV, the host of To Your Health on NetTV, the host and creator of a four-part YouTube series called Headlines, Health, and Healing, and has been an alternative medicine contributor on WGBH’s Greater Boston. Her on-camera hosting and reporting work has also been featured on the Comcast Network, PBS, Discovery Home & Leisure, Oxygen, New England Cable News, Vermont Public Television, WZMY-TV, Wisdom Television, and more.

As the creator and executive producer of To Your Health, a new talk show series on NetTV, I auditioned a lot of people for the host role. Once I met Portland, I knew immediately that this was the person I was looking for. She has a natural, likable, believable on-air presence, and connects well with the camera as well as with her guests. She is an excellent listener, always shows up prepared, knows her subject matter, and is a consummate professional … an absolute joy and pleasure to work with.

Creator, Host, Executive Producer
Her special interest in health and wellness led Portland to create and host What’s the Alternative?, a national talk show of 52 half-hours about natural ways to heal the body and mind on the former Veria Living TV.
On What’s the Alternative?, Portland explored topics like functional medicine with New York Times best-selling author Dr. Mark Hyman, herbal medicine and menopause with accomplished herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, EMDR with renowned trauma researcher Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Network Spinal Analysis with founder Dr. Donny Epstein, stress management with humorist Loretta LaRoche, building balanced families with parenting expert Mimi Doe, the DORE Program with psychiatrist and ADD expert Dr. Edward Hallowell, nutritional supplements with naturopathic doctor Alan Logan, writing and chronic illness with Chilmark Writing Workshop founder Nancy Slonim Aronie, iridology with Dr. David J. Pesek, and more.
Portland combined the very difficult roles of content producer and talent on What’s The Alternative?, a series of 52 shows she created and produced with National Boston. She was always thoroughly prepared. Her interview style is genuine, engaging, and always leaves the viewer with terrific insight. She’s a wonderful talent and an excellent producer.
